Now Casting for Almost, Maine by John Cariani. It’s love. But not quite.

Almost, Maine is a play by John Cariani, comprising nine short plays that explore love and loss in a remote, mythical almost-town called Almost, Maine. It premiered at the Portland Stage Company in Portland, Maine in 2004, where it broke box office records and garnered critical acclaim.

The New York Post said: “Mega-hit ALMOST, MAINE lands somewhere between Norman Rockwell and ‘Our Town.’ Unabashedly unhip. There is no pretense of an edge here — the show offers a sweetness and decency that’s become rare at the theater. At this point, it’s a welcome breath of fresh air.”

Director Val Gameiro brings his artistic vision to the Milam County Community Theater on October 21, 22 & October 28, 29, at the Williams Event Center in Cameron, and November 4, 5 & 11, 12 at The Kay Theater in Rockdale, and is looking for a magical cast and crew to create a memorable experience for everyone involved, on either side of the fourth wall.

This is a play for 4-19 actors, portraying 9 short plays. A minimum of 2 men and 2 women are required to play the 19 roles.

Auditions for the show will be held 7 p.m. September 17 and 18 at the Williams Event Center, 408 S Columbus Ave in Cameron. And on September 19 at The Kay Theater on 305 N. Main Street in Rockdale.

Auditions will include cold readings from the script. It is not necessary to prepare materials in advance.
